Funny Colombia: Pizza

I forgot my SD card USB adapter but I thought I would pass this along anyway. Last night we decided to have pizza for dinner. You know have a little peice of Americana... well I didn't know how american this pizza would really be.

First of all colombian pizza doesn't have any tomato sauce just bread cheese and topping and they only had 3 options: meat, hawaiian and mushroom. I had the meat and what was great about it was that the meat was not pepperoni like I thought, it was more like a Slim Jim sliced up and placed on the pizza... and everyone knows you can't get any more american than a Slim Jim.

Anyway today we're off to try the local hot springs in Paipa... hast luego - Andrew

Where are the Hansons now....

Right this minute we are in an Internet place in Paipa, Colombia. We got to Bogota on Saturday but it seems A LOT longer than that. We have been trying to learn our way around town and trying to be as resourceful as possible. Of course, we are enjoying all the food and how inexpensive homemade food is here! It has been hard for all of us at times with the chaos of the town, figuring things out, and living life without hot water, internet, or cable. That sounds so selfish but truly it´s how we feel. We are reading lots, walking around town lots, and just praying about what is next. We visited ´RENUEVAME´on Sunday, it was a welcoming church and an awesome message. Well my time is about up...please pray for us as we make a decision on where to go next. We found out the house we are staying in has lead paint on the doors. Miss you all!

Mami got inked

What do you get when you have a mom who has not gone out much and her brother who just got back from Boot Camp? A Tattoo! That's what I got last week with my brother, he paid for it...I couldn't resist. Andrew was at home taking a nap and I dropped off the kids :) Here are some pictures...I love it! It's a pink daisy with a yellow center. I'm not gonna lie it hurt. I was a little scared, but then I thought I had two boys I can do this right?!

What we've been up to...

Ohhh we've been doing all kinds of things. I forgot how much cleaning I do at my parents house! Since we are in South Florida everything is tiled and gets cleaned daily. We decided to be out here for a few weeks and help mom out after her surgery. Thank you to everyone who prayed, she is doing really well and no cancer was found. Andrew makes sure that we are getting to do some fun things as well. We've played and swam in the pool, and this past weekend took off to Coco Beach...it was beautiful! We met up with Mary (who is like a sister to me), her husband Ben, and their new addition Marlin. It was lots of fun to have a sweet little girl to hold all weekend :) We got to hang out at the beach together, eat seafood (YUMM!!) and even go to the Kennedy Space Center (Andrew will write more about that later). We are counting the days down to go to Colombia, we fly out Saturday morning. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the time I have with my family (drama and all :).

We made it through the 'plane port'!

Hello Everyone...we made it to Florida! Josiah kept on asking if we were at the 'plane port' the whole time (it was so cute). Javier just kept shaking his head saying "Jojo, we are going on a plane but it's in the airport". It didn't matter to Jojo, he still wanted to call it what he wanted :) The boys did super!! We left Sunday night and got in to Florida early Monday morning. As most of you know my mom had surgery that morning (she had a fist-size tumor in an ovary). Praise the Lord, the surgery went really well and they didn't find any kind of cancer. Thank you to everyone who prayed with us about this...it was a huge relief. Well, the last few days we have been taking care of Mimi (that's what the boys call my mom). Andrew is finishing up a project, so we haven't done much. The boys are LOVING the pool in the backyard. Last night we were all in the pool and Jojo was yelling 'canon ball' and jumping in...it's hilarious. We will post some pictures soon. For now Javier is enjoying watching his favorite shows on cable. Josiah is enjoying canonball-ing into the pool. Andrew is enjoying Chick-Fil-A in town. And me...I'm not enjoying how frizzy my hair gets in this humidity, but I am enjoying my family, speaking in Spanish again, and all the yummy food I am learning to make :)

One more very important thing THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU....to everyone who helped us get things accomplished at home. Truly we are so blessed to have family and friends (who are like family) to make this happen. Some of you helped us pack, others babysat, others cleaned, packed, took out or trash, helped empty out our pantry, prayed for us, did going away meals, the list is endless....we pray blessings upon all of you! Seriously, we couldn't have done it without you. It means the world to us! Love you all and miss you, but we are excited for what God has planned.
